STEPS OF HAPPINESS

Happiness

Happiness is a journey and the ultimate goal. One needs to take certain steps to walk through this journey and reach that goal.

1. Cherish the Joy of Giving

It is in giving that you receive. We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.

2. Avoid Comparisons

Each of us is unique in our own way. Do not compare yourself with anyone. It will only add up to your miseries.

3. Friendship

Cultivate friends who show their love in times of trouble, not only in happiness.

4. Healthy Body

Happier you starts with healthier you. Take care of your body. Indulge in physical activity of your choice whether it is yoga, sports or gym. Physical activity removes toxins from the body and promotes healing.

5. Healthy Mind

Do something to calm your mind. Meditation and breathing exercises helps to remove mental clutter, thus creating space for positivity.

6. Adequate Sleep

It is important to sleep for at least eight hours in a day to perform at your best. Resting your body is as equally important as keeping it active.

7. Smile

More often than you can! Not because life has been easy, perfect, or exactly as you anticipated, but because you choose to be happy and grateful for all the good things you do have and all the problems you know you do not have.

8. Be yourself

Be the one you are meant to be, be yourself! This is the best gift you can give to yourself along the lines of being happy.

9. Now

Do not dwell in the past, it is gone. Do not dwell in the future, it has yet to come. What exists now is the present.

10. Celebrate

Search for a reason to rejoice, celebrate the things you like, celebrate even if you have achieved an insignificant part of your plan or celebrate being alive.

11. Rejoice your day

Do not allow this day to pass without celebration. Whether you have a reason or not, cherish this very day which will never come back in your life.

12. Lose the Argument

Losing an argument is much better than losing yourself or the relation in the process. Lose the argument to win the person.

13. How it Matters

Develop the habit of asking yourself, how it matters when it comes to situations which bother you all the time. Nothing can take away your smile.

14. Humor

Humor is the spice of life. It is nothing but taking life lightly. It is the joy within; which keeps your spirits high.

15. Laughter

Laughter is the expression of humor within. Laughter enables to integrate your body, mind and soul in the expression of the joy. In turn it relaxes you and eases all the tension.

16. Be Honest with Yourself

Make realistic goals. Do not be too specific about the means let things come, what has to come tomorrow will come.

17. Search for your Passion

Search for something worth dying for. Let it unfold. It will be the real source of Happiness as you develop it.

18. Gratitude

Cultivate a habit of saying "Thank you", whenever something good happens, however trivial or routine it may be. Gratitude is the medicine for a heart devastated by tragedy. If you can only be thankful for the blue sky, then do so.

19. Earn someone else's Happiness

It's important to make someone happy, and it's important to start with your nearest one.

20. Routine life

Manage your routine tasks smartly. Give some space for emergency issues. Be open to them to avoid panicking. Take a break from your routine at intervals to start fresh again.

In conversation with ‘You’

Above are some of the steps of being happy. They have been very carefully written, but for them to work you have to read each one of them, close your eyes, enliven and energize them. Only then they will start working for you. When you start taking the above steps to increase your happiness by energizing each one of them and make them work for you, you will in the process discover how your inner wiser self develops feelings and thoughts to the steps enumerated above. Only then these steps generate in you the thoughts and feelings that only you can perceive of and your actions will be governed accordingly. It is your actions that will lead to happiness. Once the steps above are read and internalized, the change in the thoughts and feelings will be a means to achieve the end goal of happiness.

When you participate in the act of happiness, in taking the steps of achieving happiness, you may discover through your wisdom that some steps are unique to you. These will increase the effectiveness manifold, if its benefits are shared globally. Likewise you may be benefited by cross-cultural individual experiences such is the power of engaging, participation, giving and sharing.
